McLoughlin & Weigele Finish Top-10, Lead Women's Cross Country to Fourth Place at ECAC Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University women's cross country team finished fourth at the ECAC Championships on Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park. Fiona McLoughlin raced to an eighth-place finish to pace the Seawolves individually.

McLoughlin (20:58.0) was one of nine competitors to finish with a sub 21-minute time. Grace Weigele finished closely behind, covering the 6K course in 21:03.2 to notch a top-ten finish. Grace Sisson (21:50.0) finished 34th, Rebecca Clackett (22:10.1) finished 59th, Nicole Garcia (22:13.8) finished 65th, Niamh Durcan (22:27.7) finished 77th and Ava Carsley (22:33.5) came in at 87th to round out Stony Brook's top-100 finishers in the event.

"Good solid effort by our ladies group; Fiona had a nice run up front, the rest of the group competed better in the middle of the race than at Lehigh," head coach Andy Ronan noted. "Like the guys, the ladies now need to focus on being prepared for the CAA Championships in two weeks."

Following the cancellation of the CCSU Mini Meet, Stony Brook will shift its focus towards preparing for the 2023 CAA Championships on Friday, Oct. 27.
