Goslar and Buskey Shine At CCSU Mini Meet, As Women's Cross Country Concludes Regular Season

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Stony Brook women's cross country finished out the regular season on Friday afternoon at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet. Competing in two 3000m events, the Seawolves recorded individual event wins in each event, as Shaylen Goslar won the varsity event and Alexis Buskey won the sub-varsity, highlighting a day full of strong performances.

Across the two events, the Seawolves recorded seven top-ten finishes. In the varsity event, Stony Brook collected 43 points to finish second, while in the sub-varsity event, Stony Brook placed first with a team score of 24.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Goslar outpaced 44 other runners to win the varsity 3000m event (9:44.29).
  • Buskey won the sub-varsity event, the first individual win of her collegiate career (10:37.13).
  • Logan Barsalow placed second in the sub-varsity event (10:46.94).
  • Sophia Squires recorded a third-place finish in the sub-varsity event (10:48.65).
  • Danielle Cirrito posted a strong run in the varsity event, placing fifth (10:12.44).
  • Alejandra Garcia finished eighth in the varsity event (10.18.22).
  • Kayla Holliday placed eighth in the sub-varsity event (11:06.12).

"This turned out to be a nice tune-up for the conference championships," noted head coach Andy Ronan. "Certainly, Shaylen should be feeling good about where her fitness is as we head to the CAA's."

UP NEXT
With the regular season now complete, the Seawolves will turn their attention to championship season, beginning next week at the 2025 CAA Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 31. The women's 6K race is set to start at 10 am and will emanate from Ocean County Park in Lakewood, New Jersey.
