HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Despite holding the three-seeded Hawks scoreless in the first half of play, the sixth-seeded Seawolves had their season come to an end with a 3-0 defeat after Monmouth tallied three goals over a 10 minute stretch late in the second half this evening at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The playoff matchup between the Hawks and Seawolves was quiet for the first 10 minutes until Luciana Setteducate tallied the first shot of the game that just missed right. Following the shot by Setteducate, Monmouth put the pressure on the Stony Brook defense by securing the next 10 shots in the half.
However,
Nicolette Pasquarella kept the Hawks at ease by tallying three saves in the first 45 minutes of play, including a highlight-reel play in the 42nd minute to keep the match scoreless into the break.
Similarly to the beginning of the match, the Seawolves were on the offensive attack to begin play as they tallied three of the first four shots, including a shot by Linn Beck in the 51st minute that was saved. But, the Hawks retaliated with three goals in 10 minutes from the 74th-84th minute to ultimately take the 3-0 victory.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"I want to thank the seniors and graduates for all their hard work and dedication to the program over their time on Long Island. They will have ever lasting impacts on the program and I couldn't thank them enough for all their contributions on and off the field." Head Coach Tobias Bischof remarked postgame. "I thought we started pretty strong. We just couldn't get the control of the ball in their end the way we wanted to. We just didn't do enough to advance into the semifinals. You have to give all the credit to Monmouth, they are well coached and the No. 3 seed for a reason. All the credit to their players and staff," Bischof said.
