RICHMOND, Va. - After helping lead the Seawolves to a 3-0 week and extending their winning streak to six matches, senior
Torri Henry was named the CAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Henry becomes the first member of the Seawolves volleyball program to claim a weekly honor from the conference this season.
For the week, Henry averaged 12.44 assists per set, facilitating a Stony Brook attack that hit .309. She totaled 112 assists, 31 digs and eight service aces in the three victories for Stony Brook.
The senior began her week by tallying her ninth double-double of the season by finishing with 38 assists and 13 digs in the sweep over FDU on Wednesday. She also captured two service aces and a kill in the victory.
The native of Belton, Mo., contributed all over the stat sheet on Saturday to lead Stony Brook over Hampton in the three-set sweep. She tallied her fourth straight double-double, 10th of the season, tallying 32 assists and 12 digs. Also, she had a kill and served a season-high six service aces, including five straight in the second-set victory.
To conclude the week and extend the Seawolves' six-match winning streak, Henry recorded 42 assists as the squad hit .352 in the weekend finale. It was the seventh time this season that Henry recorded 40 or more assists in a match. She also had six digs, two kills, an ace, and block in the weekend-concluding sweep over Hampton.
This season, Henry leads the CAA in AVG/S (11.00) and second in total assists (748). The senior has 2,972 assists during her career on the Island and would be just the fifth player all-time to reach 3,000 assists in program history.
The Seawolves return to the court next weekend when they host Delaware University at Pritchard Gymnasium for a matchup on Saturday at 11 a.m., and Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
