BRONX, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's cross country team finished 11th overall at the 2023 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday morning. Grace Weigele was Stony Brook's top performer, finishing tenth overall individually and claiming All-Region honors.

Weigele's finish was the second-highest among CAA competitors, behind Northeastern's Abigail Hassman's fourth-place finish. Weigele covered the 6K course in 20:06.5, shaving off more than a minute from her time last season (21:10.4) and earning All-Region honors.

Fiona McLoughlin finished in 28th place after completing the course in 20:32.6. Grace Sisson (61st, 21:06.6), Rebecca Clackett (92nd, 21:27.5) and Nicole Garcia (99th, 21:36.7) were the Seawolves' other top-100 finishers in a field that featured 250-plus runners from 37 different Division I programs in the Northeast.

Niamh Durcan (117th, 21:48.9) and Amelie Guzman (146th, 22:19.2) rounded out the field of Stony Brook competitors.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Grace had a spectacular run, unfortunately it looks like she will just miss out on a spot at the National meet. But none the less it was great effort; she has moved herself to another level as an athlete," head coach Andy Ronan noted post-meet. "For the second year in a row she made the All Region team. The team result was solid, our goal was the top-10, we fell a little short of that."
