CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Stony Brook women's basketball team (15-9, 9-4 CAA), led by a 30-point effort from graduate guard
Anastasia Warren, knocked down the Charleston Cougars (10-14, 5-9 CAA) on the road on Friday night at TD Arena.
Warren scored a season-high 30 points, on 10-of-18 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from three-point range, to lead the Seawolves to a 82-75 win.
Stony Brook got off to a hot start, grabbing ahold of a 11-3 lead in the first quarter. Warren kick started the Seawolves' offense with a three pointer off an assist from graduate guard
Daishai Almond, marking the graduate's 200th career three and the first points of the contest. Warren also added four assists and three rebounds on the night.
The Cougars held a majority of the second quarter, outscoring Stony Brook 29-18 which was largely due to a 12-0 run by Charleston. The offensive spark for the Cougars came from a layup made by junior forward Zoe McCrary off of a turnover. Charleston went into halftime with a 42-33 lead.
Stony Brook did not give up. The Seawolves bounced back in the third quarter and went on a run of their own. The 9-0 run began with 3:34 left in the third when junior guard
Kelis Corley converted a three pointer off an assist from senior guard
Gigi Gonzalez. Stony Brook was able to cut the 12 point deficit and tie the contest, 60-60, at the end of the third quarter.
The Seawolves took back the lead with 7:32 left to play in the contest when Warren converted a pair of free throws. Stony Brook went on a 10-2 run following those free throws to extend its lead and ultimately secure the 82-75 victory.
Stony Brook's defense stood strong in the final frame, holding Charleston to 15 points. The Seawolves scored 22 in the fourth quarter to propel themselves to a seven-point win.

- Stony Brook shot 56 percent from the floor as a team, going 28-of-50 from the field. The Seawolves shot 68 percent from three-point range, going 15-of-22.
- The Seawolves made a season-high 15 threes on the night.
- Stony Brook found success at the free-throw line, shooting almost 92 percent (11-of-12).
- The Seawolves outrebounded Charleston, 34-28.
- Stony Brook outscored Charleston 49-33 in the second half.
- The Seawolves totaled 18 assists on the night. Charleston racked up 11 assists.
- Stony Brook swept the season-series over Charleston, winning 80-76 at home on January 26 and knocked the Cougars off on the road on Friday.
- Warren made the 200th three pointer of her career, becoming the only player in program history to reach that mark.
- Almond led the Seawolves in assists with six, which tied her career high.
