Swimming and Diving Competes in Day One of CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. – The Stony Brook University swimming and diving team competed in their first ever Colonial Athletic Championships today, February 22, in Hampton, Va. 
 

The 200 medley team composed of senior Reagan MacDonald, graduate Jessica Salmon, and the freshmen duo of Michelle Vu and Alanna DePinto got the CAA Championships started by finishing in 1:44.82, with splits of 27.14, 29.84, 24.47, and 23.7. 

Later on in the day, the 800 free relay team took the pool and finished in seventh place for Stony Brook, earning 24 team points. The team composed of freshman Aili Talcott, DePinto, senior Bridget Montgomery, and junior Mary Kate Conway swam their way to a final time of 7:21.91. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The 200 medley team earned eighth place to begin the meet for Stony Brook, giving themselves 22 team points.
  • Stony Brook is tied for seventh place with Monmouth after the first day of the CAA Championships, finishing with 46 total points.
  • This is the first ever CAA Championships in program history. 
NEXT UP
The Stony Brook women's swimming and diving team is back in action tomorrow, February 22, for day two of the CAA Championships. Championship races that are scheduled for tomorrow are the 500 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, 50 Freestyle, 3M Diving, and the 400 Medley Relay.
