RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time this season, Stony Brook women's lacrosse junior midfielder
Ellie Masera has been named CAA Player of the Week, for her performance against Delaware, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
The Eastport, N.Y., native led the Seawolves' offense for the fourth consecutive contest, tallying a career-high seven goals and dished out an assist for a career-high tying eight points in the squad's 19-6 victory over the Blue Hens on Saturday. The contest marked the program's first CAA matchup in program history.
Masera, the CAA Preseason Midfielder of the Year, currently ranks fourth in the nation in goals per game (4.67) and shots per game (9.17). The junior also leads the conference in goals per game, points per game (5.50), and shots per game.
Masera was previously named CAA Co-Player of the Week earlier this season on March 6 and joined senior attacker
Kailyn Hart who earned the honor after her standout performance the previous week.
The Seawolves will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to face No. 1 Syracuse at the JMA Wireless Dome on Wednesday, March 22. Face-off is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
