STORRS. Conn. – The Stony Brook women's track and field team competed at the Northeast Challenge on April 14-15.
Graduate
Samantha Rutt highlighted the Northeast Challenge for the Seawolves with a first-place finish in the 800 meter. Rutt also secured a new personal best with a final time of 2:12.48.
The 4x100 meter relay squad earned a top five finish with a combined final time of 46.44. The team was comprised of Akaija Atkins,
Dana Cerbone,
Enyero Omokeni, and
Jada Hodge. The 4x400 meter relay team of
Aristea Franks, Cerbone, Omokeni, and Hodge secured a seventh-place overall finish with a final time of 3:49.61.
Graduate
Siara Guevara missed the program record in the 400 meter hurdles by just .04 of a second. Guevara earned an eighth-place overall finish and a new personal best with a final time of 1:03.09.
Nicole Garcia,
Tara Hauff, Atkins, and Cerbone all earned top 10 individual finishes at the meet. Garcia secured an eighth-place finish and a new personal best in the 1500 meter on Friday with a final time of 4:36.74. Hauff finished directly behind Garcia in ninth. Atkins clocked in at 11.93 to earn an eighth-place finish and a new personal best in the 100 meter dash. Cerbone crossed the line directly behind her in ninth place.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Grace Sisson finished just outside the top 10 in the 1500 meter on Friday with an 11th place finish. Niamh Durcan and Rachel Ruggiero both finished within the top 15. Durcan also set a new personal best.
- Danella Dawkins crossed the line in 14.56 which was good for a 14th place finish in the 100 meter hurdles.
- Omokeni clocked in at 56.59 which was good for a new personal best and a 15th place finish in the 400 meter dash. Franks finished in 19th place.
- Franks led the way in the 200 meter with a new personal best and a top 20 finish. Cerbone also earned a top 20 finish while Hodge finished just outside in 22nd. Hodge also set a new personal best in the event.

The squad returns to the track next weekend when it travels to Charlottesville, Va. and New Haven, Conn. to compete in the Virginia Challenge and the Mark Young Invitational.
