Seawolves Shine At FastTrack Season Opener, Posting Three Event Wins And Nine Top-Eight Finishes

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Stony Brook women's track and field opened its indoor season on Friday afternoon at the FastTrack Season Opener. The Seawolves excelled as a team, winning three events and recording nine top-eight finishes.

The day's top performances came in the 500m won by Samantha Osei-Kyei, the 3000m won by Grace Weigele, and Sienna Bolasingh, who won the high jump event.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • In her collegiate debut, Osei-Kyei outpaced the field to win the 500m (1:17.18).
  • Weigele picked up an event win in the 3000m (9:29.94).
  • Bolasingh won the high jump with an impressive final mark of 1.60m.
  • Sophia Squires posted a solid performance, finishing second in the mile run (5:08.61).
  • Olivia Schwartz recorded a second-place finish in the 500m (1:17.22).
  • The team of Camille Grable, Schwartz, Deanna Dewar, and Osei-Kyei placed second in the 4x400 relay (3:59.74).
  • Shaylen Goslar took fourth in the 3000m (9:55.45), good for a new PR in the event.
  • Jade Pazmino placed sixth in the mile run (5:19.56).
  • Grable finished seventh in the 300m dash (42.44), setting a new PR in the event.

"Nice opening day wins for Samantha, Grace, and Sienna. Olivia, Shaylen, and Sophia also produced encouraging performances for the first meet of the season," noted head coach Andy Ronan. "Like the guys, looking forward to seeing what all areas of the Women's program can get done in the New Year."

The Seawolves return to action in the New Year, competing at the TCNJ Invitational on January 9 in New York City.
