OPENING KICK
- Stony Brook football returns to LaValle Stadium and to CAA play with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against Richmond on Saturday, Sept. 23. Jonny Wincott will be on the play-by-play and Sam Kornhauser on the color commentary for Saturday's game.
- In search of its first win of the season, the Seawolves will face a foe they have not lost to at home since 2013. SBU has won its last three at home in the series, including a victory over then-No. 2 Richmond on Sept. 17, 2016.
- Stony Brook will also play its first afternoon game of the year, having kicked off its first three games at 7 p.m. SBU will play its first of four games this season which start at 3:30.
- The Seawolves were defeated by Arkansas State 31-7 last week, falling behind early after giving up 17 unanswered to start the Week 3 matchup against the FBS foe.
JOHNSON HAS BIG DAY AT ARKANSAS STATE
- Redshirt freshman Anthony Johnson put up nine catches for 127 yards at Arkansas State
- The 127 yards were the fifth-most in a game for a receiver in the last five years. His long of 68 yards was SBU's biggest play this season.
- The James Madison transfer has 16 catches for 212 yards, averaging 13.25 yards per catch.
- The nine receptions were the most in a game for Stony Brook since Ray Bolden hauled in nine on Nov. 4, 2017.
KALER ALL OVER THE STAT SHEET
- Aidan Kaler entered the season as SBU's leading returning tackler from last year, and leads the team with 22.0 tackles, averaging 7.3 per game.
- Of the 22, 17 tackles (72.7%) have been solo. A season ago, 61.7% of his tackles were solo.
- He has at least five tackles in nine games in his career, including each of his last six dating back to last season.
DEFENSE GETTING IN THE BACKFIELD
- Under the guidance of defensive coordinator Matt Hachmann and defensive line coach Sean Hammonds, the Stony Brook defense has put up 10 sacks as a team, tied for the second most in the league thus far.
- Eight different players have recorded at least 1.0 sack thus far and 11 players have at least 1.0 TFL.
- Redshirt junior Dyshier Clary has at least a sack assist in each of SBU's first three games.
