STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook scored eight times, the second-most in a single game in program history, shutting out St. Joseph's (LI) 8-0 on Tuesday evening at LaValle Stadium. The victory was head coach Ryan Anatol's 83rd of his career, making him the winningest coach in program history.
The Seawolves took the lead first on Olsen Aluc's early goal, his fifth of the season. Trevor Harrison scored twice to pad the lead to three goals, once on a penalty kick and another to tally his third score of the season.
The Seawolves would go on to score five more times, including first career goals from
Bruno Penney,
Finlay Oliver,
Gabriel Ferreira,
Maxx Peters and
Wilber Gomez, to prevail over the Golden Eagles. Stony Brook tallied six first-half goals and
Curtis Copenhaver made two saves to earn the shutout and solidify the second clean sheet of the season for the Seawolves.
STATS AND NOTES
- The eight goals, six assists and 22 total points are all the second-most in a single game in program history. The Stony Brook record for the aforementioned categories were all set in a 1995 victory over Old Westbury, when the Seawolves racked up 34 points on 13 goals and eight assists.
- Aluc's goal was his team-leading fifth of the season. He played just 21 minutes in the victory.
- Harrison's brace was the second of the senior's career. His three goals this season are a career-best mark.
- Ferreira, Oliver, Peters and Penney all registered goals, the first of their collegiate careers.
- Gomez's goal was the first of his Stony Brook career, having scored once previously while at NYIT.
- Aluc, Gomez and Oliver all added assists as well as a goal
- Copenhaver collected two saves for the Seawolves out of three total Golden Eagles shots.
- Stony Brook recorded 29 shots in total, 18 of which were credited on goal.

"Our message to the guys was to come out and be sharp and have a standard in the way that we play, and I think they did a good job with that," Anatol said. "It was good to get a lot of guys minutes. We're at the halfway point of the season and we know we're going to need guys as we go to the latter part of the season."
