ELON, N.C.- The Stony Brook women's cross country team kicked off championship season on Friday by competing at the 2024 CAA Championship.
The Seawolves placed fourth out of 11 teams with 106 points and Grace Weigele earned All-CAA honors.
Stony Brook posted several strong performances, with three runners placing in the top-25. Its best performance came from Weigele, who finished third with a clocking of 20:41.00. Weigele's impressive run garnered her an All-CAA distinction. Just missing out on All-CAA honors were
Rebecca Clackett (20th) and
Amelie Guzman (22nd). Finishing just outside the top-25 was
Grace Sisson (26th).
Jade Pazmino (36th),
Shaylen Goslar (41st), and
Miranda Gatto (42nd) all recorded top-45 placements.
Ava Carsley (55th),
Danielle Cirrito (57th),
Alexis Buskey (65th),
Niamh Durcan (68th), and
Alejandra Garcia (85th) rounded out all the Stony Brook runners at the CAA Championship.

"Grace had a tremendous run, got involved early, and fought hard all the way to gain a top-three finish," head coach Andy Ronan said. "As a team, we just did not get enough good running done in the middle of the race to finish among the top three teams, so overall, I would say it was a solid performance."
