STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook swimming and diving opened the 2024-25 season on Saturday afternoon with its senior day meet against Sacred Heart, falling to the Pioneers by a 173-127 scoreline.
The Seawolves posted eight first-place finishes on the day, with seven in the pool and one on the diving board.
Freshman Francesca Baber was the meet's top performer, winning all four events she competed in. Michelle Vu won three of her four events, including her two individual races. Aili Talcott added another win for Stony Brook in the 200-yard breaststroke. On the diving board, Sara DiStefano was the Seawolves' best performer, winning the 1-meter diving event.
HIGHLIGHTS

Baber won the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:58.55.

Vu swam to a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, posting an impressive time of 25.02.

DiStefano won in the 1-meter diving event with a final score of 260.35.

Baber picked up another win in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 53.49.

Talcott won the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:29.16.

In her final individual event of the day, Baber picked up a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a final clocking of 5:15.65.

The Seawolves' final individual event win came from Vu in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.56.

Alanna DePinto, Vu, Baber, and Mia Saavedra teamed up to win the 400-yard freestyle relay, combining for a final time of 3:38.20.
