RICHMOND, Va. – Before the CAA Volleyball Championship begins later this week, four players from the Stony Brook volleyball team were honored with postseason accolades as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Junior
Kali Moore garnered First Team honors after leading the CAA in total kills (463) and points (524) this season, as graduate students
Leoni Kunz and
Torri Henry posted career numbers to both be recognized on the All-CAA Second Team. Freshman
Quinn Anderson was named to the All-Rookie Team after finishing second in the conference amongst rookies with 247 kills.
Moore paved the way for Stony Brook offensively, leading the team and CAA in kills while ranking 12
th in the nation overall. She picked up the second-most aces (37) on the team, while adding 275 digs, 44 blocks, and 20 assists throughout the season. On Oct. 19, she tallied 1,000 career kills in a crucial four-set victory over Elon. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native recorded double-doubles in 13 of the Seawolves' 28 matches, as she tallied 20 or more kills in 11 matches. She recorded a career-high 28 kills and 10 digs in a five-set thriller over William & Mary. Moore captured a pair of CAA Offensive Player of the Week accolades to bookend the beginning and end of the 2024 regular season.
Kunz earned a spot on the second team for the second straight season after playing a key role for the Seawolves in her graduate year. She led the team with a career-high 79 total blocks, finished second on the team with a career-high 343 kills and 2.96 kills per set, and was third with 306 digs, and 2.64 digs per set. She added 22 assists and 18 service aces over 116 sets played this season. She tallied 16 double-doubles, including a season-high 23 kills and 16 digs in a five-set victory over N.C. A&T.
After being named the 2023 CAA Setter of the Year and performing in a career season, Henry came back and decided to out-do herself once again. She finished with new career-highs in numerous offensive categories such as assists (1,150), kills (69), service aces (44), and total attempts (216). Defensively, she set career-marks in digs (403) and tallied 33.0 blocks. She concluded the regular season leading the CAA in total assists and total service aces.
Henry became the only member of the Seawolves' volleyball program this season to claim CAA Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 9.71 assists per set, facilitating a Stony Brook attack that hit .207. She totaled 68 assists, 23 digs, five blocks, and four kills in the series split against Hofstra during the week of Sep. 15. Then on Oct. 5, she became the third student-athlete in program history to record 4,000 assists for their career.
Anderson becomes the third player in program history (Moore, 2022 and Jackson, 2023) to earn All-Rookie honors. The outside hitter has registered the second most kills for a freshman in the league, while hitting .145 on 839 attempts. The Westborough, Mass. Native has tallied 10 or more kills in 11 matches this season, totaling a career-high 15 in three matches against James Madison, Charleston, and N.C. A&T. She totaled 63 digs, 43 blocks, and five assists in her rookie campaign.
The Seawolves' season continues on Thursday, Nov. 21, in the CAA Quarterfinals against No. 3 Towson. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. and will broadcast on FloVolleyball.
