STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Seawolves turned the page and put their focus on the 2025 season this morning as head coach
Billy Cosh announced the addition of 12 signees to the program's signing class, as part of the Division I football early signing period.
Introducing Stony Brook football early signees for the class of 2025:
Khalid Bueno | LB | Philadelphia, Pa. | 6'3" | 225 lbs. | Martin Luther King High School
Khalid Bueno, a 6-3, 225-pound linebacker from MLK High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a record-breaking defensive standout. As a senior captain, he led his team to the Public League 5A Title Game after guiding them to a Liberty Division Championship the year prior. In 2024, he recorded 128 tackles (10.7 per game), 40 tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, and two recoveries, while also contributing 189 yards and four touchdowns offensively. Bueno holds multiple school records, including career tackles (314), tackles for loss (70), tackles for loss in a single season (40), and tackles in a single game (22). A Pennsylvania Coaches-Select All-State recipient and 5A All-State honoree, he showcased his skills nationally at the U.S. Army Bowl and NBC Sports National Combine.
Lucas Love | DT | Frederick, Md. | 6'4" | 280 lbs. | Tuscarora High School
Lucas Love, a standout defensive tackle from Frederick, Maryland, is a 6-4, 280-pound force on the field from Tuscarora High School. As a junior, he earned numerous accolades, including 1st Team All-State Defensive Lineman, 1st Team All-Region Defensive Lineman and Defensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All-District Defensive Lineman and Defensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All-LoCoHSFB Defensive Lineman, 1st Team All-LoCoSports Defensive Lineman, 1st Team All-BurgSportsNet Defensive Lineman, and Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention Defensive Lineman. During his junior season, he recorded an impressive 80 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles, helping lead his team to an undefeated season and both conference and regional championships. As a senior, Lucas continued his dominance, earning 1st Team All-District honors and guiding his team to a regional championship. Additionally, he was invited to compete in the prestigious 2023 National Prep Showcase and the 2023 NP Maryland Showcase.
Brooks Martin | ATH/DB | Potomac, Md. | 6'2" | 190 lbs. | The Bullis School
Brooks Martin, a 6-2, 190-pound athlete/defensive back from Potomac, Maryland, attends The Bullis School and has established himself as an elite playmaker. As a senior, the three-star prospect amassed 1,134 all-purpose yards, including 932 receiving yards on 54 catches, with 12 touchdowns. He also excelled defensively, recording 6 interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and 35 tackles, while adding 202 punt return yards. Brooks was named the 2024 Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) Athlete of the Year and earned the 2023 Team Offensive Player of the Year honor. A standout performer in the 2023 Overtime 7v7, he was also selected First Team All-IAC and Second Team All-State. His impressive 2023 season stats include 857 all-purpose yards, six interceptions, five touchdowns, four forced fumbles, eight tackles for loss, one sack and a forced safety.
Louis Gaddy | WR/DB | Burlington, Pa. | 5'11" | 165 lbs. | Roman Catholic
Louis Gaddy, a 5-11, 165-pound WR/DB from Burlington, Pennsylvania, is a key contributor and leader for Roman Catholic. A senior captain in 2024, Gaddy showcased his defensive prowess throughout his high school career, posting 49 tackles, one interception, and two forced fumbles as a junior and adding 32 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble as a senior. He made an immediate impact as a sophomore with 17 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble. Gaddy played a pivotal role in transforming Roman Catholic's program, helping the team to a 27-10 record over his final three seasons after a challenging 3-7 start in his freshman year.
James "Speedy" Dely | WR/DB | Spring Valley, N.Y. | 5'9" | 152 lbs. | Paramus Catholic
James "Speedy" Dely, a 5-9, 152-pound athlete from Spring Valley, New York, is a standout WR/DB from Paramus Catholic High School. A dynamic two-sport athlete, he excelled as a two-year varsity football player and four-year varsity track member, specializing in the 4x400m, 4x200m, and 110m hurdles. A two-time Track All-American, Dely competed in the prestigious New Balance Outdoor Nationals in 2021 and 2023. On the football field, he earned First Team All-League honors in both 2023 and 2024, showcasing his versatility with nearly 600 yards on 17 receptions and two touchdowns as a junior, along with a 95-yard kick return touchdown as a sophomore.
Josiah Ware | OL/DL | Teaneck, N.J. | 6'4" | 270 lbs. | Teaneck
Josiah Ware, a 6-4, 270-pound OL/DL from Teaneck, New Jersey, is a dominant force on both sides of the ball for Teaneck High School. The son of a former Rutgers football player, Ware earned two First Team All-League honors and one Second Team All-League selection during his stellar career. As a senior captain, he tallied 35 tackles (18 solo), 3.5 sacks, 25 pancakes, and a forced fumble. He also helped Teaneck to back-to-back state championships following a 2-8 freshman season. Ware racked up 31 pancakes as a sophomore and 33 as a junior, solidifying his reputation as a game-changing lineman.
Maurice Seals | DL/OL | Atlanta, Ga. | 6'0" | 280 lbs. | Miller Grove
Maurice Seals, a 6-0, 280-pound DL/OL from Atlanta, Georgia, is a standout athlete for Miller Grove High School. A four-year varsity member and senior captain, Seals earned numerous accolades, including First Team All-County and All-Region honors as a senior and junior and participated in the prestigious 2023 SEC All-American Game. Known for his disruptive play, Seals totaled 70 tackles, 12 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, and an interception during his senior campaign, following a junior season with 52 tackles, one sack, four tackles for loss, and a rushing touchdown. Also excelling academically, he was a member of the honor roll in his junior and senior years.
Josh Leath | LB | Mount Holly, N.J. | 6'3" | 230 lbs. | Moorestown
Josh Leath, a 6-3, 230-pound linebacker from Mount Holly, New Jersey, is a standout multi-sport athlete at Moorestown High School. A four-year varsity football player and three-year varsity wrestler, Leath served as captain of both teams during his senior year. On the gridiron, he earned First Team All-Conference, All-County and Third Team All-State honors as a junior, followed by Second Team All-Conference recognition in 2023. His senior season was dominant, with 18 sacks, 105 tackles (37 for loss), building off of a junior campaign with 47 tackles and 10 sacks. Also excelling academically, Leath received the Moorestown Scholar-Athlete Award in both his junior and senior years.
Kareem Hector | CB/WR | Jersey City, N.J. | 5'10" | 160 lbs. | Union City
Kareem Hector, a 5-10, 160-pound CB/WR from Jersey City, New Jersey, is a versatile playmaker for Union City High School. A First Team All-Conference defender as a senior, Hector tallied 32 tackles and scored four touchdowns while helping lead his team to an 11-2 record and a 10th-place state finish. Over his sophomore and junior seasons, he contributed to an impressive 19-4 team record, adding 27 tackles, an interception, and two touchdowns as a junior. Coached by former Miami (Fla.) player Wilber Valdez, Hector also excelled in the classroom, earning honor roll recognition in his sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Tavion Byrd | QB | Rochester, N.Y. | 6'1" | 175 lbs. | University Preparatory Charter
Tavion Byrd, a 6-1, 175-pound quarterback from Michigan City, Indiana, is a dynamic leader for University Preparatory Charter. A senior captain, Byrd earned First Team AGR, Second Team AGR and All-Team AGR honors throughout his career. He helped lead his team to a 16-6 record over his final two seasons, highlighted by an invitation to the prestigious Eddie Meath All-Star Game. Byrd made a mark with a remarkable performance, earning Section V Player of the Week honors after throwing five touchdown passes, including a game-winning hail mary. Earlier in the season, he was named Section V Player of the Week after rushing for three touchdowns and passing for another in his first varsity start at quarterback. A standout in both football and academics, Byrd is also a member of the varsity track and field team and the Black Honors Society.
Jocquan Jenkins | LB | Baltimore, Md. | 6'1" | 240 lbs. | Dundalk
Jocquan Jenkins, a 6-1, 240-pound linebacker from Baltimore, Maryland, is a dominant force on the field for Dundalk High School. A four-year varsity player, Jenkins earned three All-County selections and a spot in the prestigious Legends Bowl. He holds the program record for both tackles and tackles for loss, finishing his career with 251 tackles, 51 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, and 18 touchdowns. Jenkins was also named All-State and earned a spot on the Big 22 team. As a senior, he helped lead Dundalk to an 11-3 record, and as a freshman, he contributed to the team's C Conference championship. A multi-sport athlete, Jenkins also competed in track, wrestling and basketball during his high school career.
Michael Mannino | K | Huntington Station, N.Y. | 6'2" | 170 lbs. | Walt Whitman
Michael Mannino, a 6-2, 170-pound kicker from Huntington Station, New York, and Walt Whitman High School, is a decorated athlete and scholar. He earned the Bryan Collins Kicker of the Year award, All-State Honorable Mention, and was a two-time Kohl's National Scholarship Invitation recipient, finishing his football career with 39 touchbacks and nine field goals. A National Honor Society member and High School Scholar-Athlete awardee, Mannino also excelled in soccer, earning All-County, All-State, League MVP and All-Long Island First Team honors while leading his team to the AAA Suffolk County and Long Island Championships.
