STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook women's lacrosse head coach
Joe Spallina announced the addition of
Charlotte Verhulst to the program as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2025 season.
"We could not be happier to be able to add Charlotte as an assistant coach, she has such great passion and understanding of the game and will make an enormous impact on our women. We do things a specific way at Stony Brook and Charlotte certainly understands and embodies those qualities," stated Spallina.
Before joining the Seawolves coaching staff, Verhulst was a five-year member of the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team, where she played a pivotal role in the success of the squad. She helped the team to a pair of America East titles in 2021 and 2022 before winning two consecutive CAA Championships in 2023 and 2024. She participated in four-straight NCAA Tournaments with Stony Brook advancing to a pair of Second Round and Quarterfinal appearances.
Verhulst is a USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention, two-time All-CAA Second Team selection, CAA All-Championship Team honoree, and IWLCA Academic Honor Roll recipient.
The Saint James, N.Y. native appeared in 80 games throughout her five-year career, starting in 74 of those contests for the Seawolves. She totaled 100 points on 71 goals and 29 assists, notching a career-high 42 goals and 17 assists in her graduate season. She tallied 244 draw controls for fourth all-time in program history, along with 54 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.
Verhulst graduated from Stony Brook after coming off its 11
th straight NCAA Tournament berth in the springtime, defeating Niagara 19-7 in the First Round before a 15-10 loss in the Second Round to No. 3 Syracuse.
The Seawolves were ranked No. 14 in USA Lacrosse Magazine's Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings ahead of the 2025 season.
