HAMPTON, Va. – Stony Brook swimming & diving earned top-15 finishes in the 100 fly and the 200 free, as the Seawolves wrapped up competition in day three of the CAA Championships on Friday.
Stony Brook got an 11th place finish from sophomore
Michelle Vu in the 100 free with a final time of 55.25 while senior
Mary Kate Conway finished 14th in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:51.53.
Stony Brook sits eighth at 219 points after Friday's events.
PRELIMS
- Vu took 12th in the 100 fly prelims (55.26) while Ashley Chui qualified for the C finals in 20th (55.92).
- Conway was 15th in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.82 to reach the consolation finals, a season-best time when she finished.
- Alanna DePinto made her way into the 100 breaststroke C finals with a prelims time of 1:06.12
- Sara Baxter qualified for the C finals in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 57.64.
FINALS
- Vu earned her 11th-place finish in the final, finishing just 0.08 seconds behind the B finals winner. Chui finished fifth in the C final at 55.97.
- Conway improved her time by 0.29 seconds from prelims for her 14th-place finish.
- DePinto dropped her time by 0.71 seconds in the 100 breaststroke finals, touching the wall in 1:05.41.
- Baxter's 57.48 time was good for sixth in the C final.
- The 200 free relay team of Vu, Chui, DePinto and Conway finished eighth in 1:34.76, with Conway's 23.32 marking the fastest 50 yards of the team.
UP NEXT
The fourth and final day of the CAA Championships is set for Saturday, March 2 back at the Hampton Aquaplex. Swimming prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with 1-meter diving prelims to follow at 12:30. Finals competition is set for later at 6 p.m.
Swimming events for day four will include the 1650 free, 200 backstroke, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
