HOW IT HAPPENED
The squad was trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Stony Brook got an RBI single from Wright, scoring senior Cam Santerre from second base.
Following the run by the Seawolves, the Hawks would go on to score in the two runs in the third and fourth inning to take a 7-1 lead. After Monmouth extended the lead to 10-1 in the sixth inning, the squad got back on the scoreboard as Stony Brook scored twice on Micheli's two-run homer, which brought the score to 10-3 in favor of the Hawks.
Monmouth built their lead to 11-3 before the Stony Brook offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 11-7 in the ninth. The Seawolves bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Wright. The ballgame ended with that ninth inning rally falling short.
