HOW IT HAPPENED

Rizzo kept his composure in the first inning after stranding a runner on second base to keep Elon scoreless. Over the next three innings, the left-hander allowed a runner on base in each frame but kept the Phoenix quiet through the four innings of play.

Stony Brook got on the scoreboard first, starting in the fourth inning. Stony Brook scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Fox. The Seawolves began the inning with three straight hits from Brett Paulsen, Chris Carson and Miceli. Following the fielder's choice RBI from Matthew Wright, Fox would drive in Miceli and Carson.

The Seawolves then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the sixth inning after the Phoenix cut it to 3-1. Stony Brook got a grand slam from Brown-Eiring to score all four of their runs in the inning, which brought the Seawolves lead to 7-1.

Stony Brook held Elon scoreless before building their lead to 9-1 in the eighth inning. The Seawolves got run-scoring doubles from from Pilla and Brown-Eiring to pick up a couple of runs. The score remained 9-1 for the rest of the game, as Stony Brook coasted to the win. More details to come.
