STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's lacrosse used an offensive explosion to defeat Delaware, 17-4, on Senior Day. The Seawolves were led by graduate attack
Kailyn Hart who scored a career-high seven goals, six of which came in the first half of play.
With the win, Stony Brook head coach
Joe Spallina earned his 200
th victory with the Seawolves. Spallina improves to 200-39 over his 13 seasons at Stony Brook and 273-41 over his head coaching career.

Stony Brook also dominated on the defensive end as it limited Delaware to a season-low four goals. The Seawolves outshot the Blue Hens, 32-7, and recorded 26 shots on goals to Delaware's six. The Seawolves also won the battle of the turnovers as they forced 22 turnovers, nine of which were caused, and only turned it over 13 times.

Avery Hines helped anchor the defense as she caused a career-high six turnovers and scooped up three ground balls. Her six caused turnovers are the most in a game by a Stony Brook player since
Haley Dillon forced six turnovers vs. Vermont on March 26, 2022.

Hayden Lachenmeyer each scored their first career goals in the first quarter.
The Seawolves added to their lead in the second quarter and took a commanding, 11-2, lead into the halftime break. Stony Brook surrendered just three shots in the first half and forced 14 turnovers.
Stony Brook continued to cruise in the second half as it outscored Delaware, 6-2, over the final 30 minutes on its way to the 17-4 victory. Masera scored all three of her goals in the second half, while Verhulst scored two of her three goals.
STATS AND NOTES
- Hart scored a career-high seven goals on 10 shots. It marked her eighth hat trick of the season and her fourth in as many games. The graduate now has 197 goals in her career and is tied for fifth all-time in Stony Brook history.
- Hines' six caused turnovers were a career-high and the second-most in a game by a Stony Brook player in program history.
- Verhulst finished with five points (three goals, two assists). It marked her third-straight hat trick, and her five points were her second-most in a game this season. It was the second time season that she registered five or more points in a game (had six points against Villanova on March 2).
- Masera racked up four points with three goals and an assist. The senior has recorded a hat trick in every game of the season for the Seawolves and has scored a goal in 17 consecutive games dating back to April 15, 2023. She registered 11 draw controls, her second-most in a game this season (set a program and CAA record with 17 draw controls on March 2). She now has 197 goals in her career and is also tied for fifth all-time in Stony Brook history.
- Graduate attack Alex Finn dished out five assists. It was the fifth time this season that she tallied five or more assists in a game.
- Senior defender Clare Levy picked up three ground balls, scored a goal, and dished out an assist.
- Stony Brook extended its winning streak to five in a row and have won 58 consecutive conference games dating back to the 2015 season.
- The Seawolves are now 7-1 at home this season and 14-0 in conference and conference tournament games as a member of the CAA.
- Stony Brook improves to 6-0 all-time against Delaware.
