HOW IT HAPPENED
Elon raced out to a fast start on Thursday night, finding the back of the net in the 14th minute. A loose ball in the box found the foot of Lydia Totten, who put it past an outstretched Nicolette Pasquarella. The Phoenix nearly added another minutes later, but the shot bounded off the crossbar.
Stony Brook began building chances offensively, trying six shots in a seven minute span but testing the Phoenix keeper just once. After an onslaught of Stony Brook shots, the two sides tried a shot apiece in the final five minutes, sending the contest to the half with Elon leading by a goal.
The Seawolves continued going forward in the second half, but could not find an equalizer. Elon added a tally in the 77th minute to go ahead 2-0 late in the second half. The score would hold, despite Stony Brook's 11 second-half shots.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Credit to Elon. They were defensively organized and got the result today," head coach Tobias Bischof said. "We played hard and with a lot of effort, but weren't sharp enough in the final third. We had a lot of shots, outshooting them 20-8 but again, we needed to be sharper."
