OPENING KICK
  • Stony Brook returns to the field this afternoon with a 4-4 (2-2 CAA) record in 2025.
  • This marks the 11th meeting between these two programs and the first since 2023.
  • This will be the Seawolves' ninth game of the season and their fifth of six road games in 2025. The Seawolves head to Villanova on Nov. 15 for their final road trip of the season.
  • In their last outing, the Seawolves took down the Towson Tigers 27-19 this past Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium on Homecoming.
  • Freshman QB Quinn Boyd made his first collegiate start, throwing for 176 yards on 19-of-29 passing with a touchdown.
  • RB Roland Dempster set a program record with 40 carries, rushing for 181 yards and totaling 204 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns in the victory.
  • Maine enters the game with a 4-4 (3-1 CAA) record in 2025, winning its last four games over Elon, Merrimack, Bryant, and N.C. A&T.
  • The Black Bears' four-game winning streak is their longest since the 2019 season.
  • In their last outing, the Bears defeated Elon 35-14 to celebrate their 2025 Homecoming. Carter Peevy threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns, while Rashawn Marshall rushed for 141 yards and added a score.
  • On Monday, Christian Thomas was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, and Rashawn Marshall was voted the CAA Rookie of the Week for their performances against Elon.
  • The Seawolves enter the game with the third-ranked total offense and fourth-ranked total defense in the conference.
  • Roland Dempster leads the Seawolves' offense this season, ranking second in the CAA in nearly every rushing category, including total rushing yards (890), rushing yards per game (111.3), rushing attempts (177), and rushing touchdowns (9).
  • Anthony Ferrelli leads the defense with a team-high 71 tackles, sixth-best in the conference. Dyshier Clary is averaging 1.13 tackles for loss per game, fifth-best in the CAA, while Miles McGoy ranks fourth in the conference with seven pass breakups.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Stony Brook football team earned its second consecutive Homecoming victory, defeating the Towson Tigers 27-19 at LaValle Stadium.
  • Boyd made his first career start, finishing 19-for-29 for 179 yards and a touchdown.
  • Dietz filled the stat sheet with a season-high 155 all-purpose yards, including 65 punt return yards, 37 kick return yards, and 53 receiving yards.
  • Dempster set a program record with 40 carries and a career-high 181 rushing yards. He is now second in the CAA with nine rushing touchdowns this season.
  • Clary recorded his team-leading 4.5th sack of the season.
  • Ragsdale added 39 rushing yards, his second-highest total of the year.
  • Lamarre posted season highs in both receptions (4) and yards (37).
  • The Seawolves' defense allowed just two first downs and 59 total yards in the first half while posting 208 total yards on offense.
  • Stony Brook dominated time of possession, holding the ball for 41:40 compared to Towson's 18:20.
  • The Seawolves were a perfect 4-for-4 on fourth down and scored all 27 points in the red zone.
  • The defense set a new season low, allowing just 36 rushing yards.
  • This marked the 11th all-time meeting between the programs, with Towson leading the series 6-5.
  • Stony Brook improved to 15-4 all-time in Homecoming games at LaValle Stadium since 2006, winning four of its last five.
HISTORIC DAY FOR DEMPSTER
  • Roland Dempster set a new program record with his 40 carries in the victory over Towson on Saturday.
  • Dempster also rushed for 181 yards with two touchdowns and caught three passes for 23 yards.
  • The running back gained 55 rushing yards on the final drive in the last four minutes of the game to secure the Seawolves' 27-19 victory.
  • The previous high for a Stony Brook running back in carries was 38, set by Donald Liotine vs. Howard on Nov. 7, 2015.
  • Dempster now has 890 rushing yards on 177 attempts with nine touchdowns and has caught 21 passes for 175 yards this season.
  • He has accumulated at least 100 total yards in seven of eight games this season, rushing for over 100 and scoring a touchdown in three of his last four games.
  • Dempster leads the team and ranks second in the CAA in nearly every rushing category, including total rushing yards (890), rushing yards per game (111.3), rushing attempts (177), and rushing touchdowns (9).
  • For his career, he is just 28 yards away from becoming one of three players in program history to reach 3,000 career rushing yards, along with Miguel Maysonet (2010-12) with 4,725 and Conte Cuttino (2006-09) with 3,607 yards.
  • He has 30 career rushing touchdowns, one of only four players in program history to reach that milestone.
YOUNG WOLVES MAKING AN IMPACT
  • Redshirt freshman QB Quinn Boyd made his first career start against Towson this past Saturday and led the Seawolves to a 27-19 victory. He was 19-of-29 for 176 passing yards and a touchdown in the win.
  • Freshman kicker Michael Mannino is 6-for-8 on field goal attempts this season, including setting a new program record with two 49-yard kicks. He also has 44 kickoffs for 2,734 yards, including 16 touchbacks, and is a perfect 11-for-11 on PAT attempts.
  • Mark Beasley, Josh Leath, and Jocquan Jenkins pace the Stony Brook defense among the rookies, combining for 17 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a quarterback hit.
  • This season, nine rookies have made their first collegiate appearances.
ABOUT THE BLACK BEARS
  • The Black Bears are led by fourth-year head coach Jordan Stevens, who owns a 13-29 career record at his alma mater.
  • Stevens, an All-CAA Third Team selection as a player for the Black Bears, served a four-year stint as an assistant coach at UMaine before returning home after seven seasons on staff at Yale.
  • Stevens played for the Black Bears from 2006-2009 before mentoring Maine's defensive line as an assistant coach from March 2011 through February 2015.
  • Maine has appeared in the NCAA FCS playoffs eight times, earning bids in 1987, 1989, 2001, 2002, 2008, 2011, 2013, and 2018 (Final Four).
  • The program has produced 34 NFL Draft picks or rookie free agent signings. Maine currently has two former players on NFL rosters: Pat Ricard (FB – Ravens) and Zavier Scott (RB/WR – Vikings).
  • Picked to finish ninth in the CAA preseason poll after placing 11th the previous year with a 5-7 (3-3 CAA) record, Maine is currently fourth in the conference at 4-4 (3-1 CAA).
  • KR Trevin Ewing, QB Carter Peevy, LB Christian Thomas, CB Jamaree Gibson, and S Devin Vaught were all named to the All-CAA Preseason Team.
  • Last week, Thomas and Rashawn Marshall were named CAA Defensive and Rookie Players of the Week. Thomas recorded nine tackles (five solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery—his first takeaway of the season. Marshall ran for 141 yards on just 15 carries (9.4 YPC) and added two receptions for 18 yards.
  • The Black Bears have the top-ranked total defense in the CAA and rank sixth in total offense in 2025.
  • Maine is the only team in the CAA that remains perfect on field goal attempts this season (minimum nine attempts).
  • QB Carter Peevy leads the offense with nine passing and five rushing touchdowns. He has thrown for 1,471 yards on 133-of-228 passing and rushed for 110 yards on 50 carries.
  • Devin Vaught leads the CAA with three interceptions for the Black Bears' defense. Christian Thomas paces the team in total tackles (75), tackles for loss (8.5), and sacks (3.0).
  • The Black Bears have lost two of their last three meetings with the Seawolves, dating back to the 2020 season.
