OPENING KICK
- Stony Brook returns to action this afternoon with a 5-5 (3-3 CAA) record.
- This marks the Seawolves' 11th game of the season and their final road contest of the regular season. They enter the matchup with a 1-4 road record.
- This is the ninth meeting between the programs and the third straight year the teams have faced each other.
- It is also Stony Brook's third ranked opponent this season after matchups with No. 9 Rhode Island on Sept. 6 and No. 10/11 Monmouth on Oct. 18.
- The Seawolves are 12-39 all-time against nationally ranked FCS opponents.
- Stony Brook is coming off a 38-12 win over North Carolina A&T, highlighted by Quinn Boyd's program freshman record 380 passing yards and four touchdowns, which earned him CAA Player of the Week honors.
- In the victory, Dempster became the third player in program history to surpass 3,000 career rushing yards.
- Villanova enters at 7-2 (6-1 CAA) as the No. 7/10 team in the AFCA Coaches and Stats Perform Top-25 polls.
- The Wildcats have won six straight—all CAA games—each by at least eight points.
- Villanova has won 20 straight home games dating back to 2022.
- Following their 28-10 win over Towson, running back Ja'briel Mace was named Stats Perform National Player of the Week and CAA Player of the Week after rushing for 291 yards, breaking Brian Westbrook's school record. His four rushing touchdowns accounted for all Villanova scores.
- This is Villanova's final regular-season CAA game before moving to the Patriot League next season.
LAST TIME OUT
- Behind 380 passing yards from redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Boyd and two touchdowns from Jayce Freeman, Stony Brook posted a commanding 38-12 victory over North Carolina A&T at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in the teams' first-ever meeting.
- Dempster became the third player in program history to reach 3,000 career rushing yards, joining Miguel Maysonet (2010–12, 4,880) and Conte Cuttino (2006–09, 3,783). He is also one of three Seawolves with more than 600 career carries. His 72 receiving yards marked a season high.
- Freeman recorded his third multi-touchdown game of the season and topped 100 receiving yards for the second time this year, finishing with seven catches for 140 yards. He continues to lead the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.
- Williams has caught a touchdown pass in three straight games and in five of his last six.
- Roberts posted a team-high eight tackles and a sack, his fifth game in the last six with at least one sack.
- Garcia has recorded interceptions in back-to-back games.
- Kamara tallied his first interception of the season.
- This was the first meeting between the programs.
- It also marked Stony Brook's third first-time opponent of 2025, joining Lindenwood and San Diego State.
- The Seawolves improved to 4-1 at LaValle Stadium this season and 8-3 at home dating back to last year.
DEMPSTER REACHES 3,000
- Dempster now has 3,054 career rushing yards on 636 attempts across five seasons on Long Island.
- On Saturday, he became just the third player in program history to reach 3,000 rushing yards, joining Maysonet (4,880) and Cuttino (3,783).
- He is one of three players in program history with more than 600 career carries.
- With 33 career rushing touchdowns and 34 total touchdowns, he ranks second all-time in both categories.
- This season, Dempster has totaled 972 rushing yards on 210 attempts with 12 touchdowns, adding 273 receiving yards on 32 receptions.
- He has rushed for more than 100 yards in four games this season and has surpassed 100 total yards in eight games. He has scored in eight of 10 contests, including each of the past seven.
- Dempster ranks second in the CAA in rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns, attempts, rushing yards, and rushing yards per game.
- He also ranks in the top 10 nationally in FCS all-purpose yards per game, rushing yards, rushing yards per game, and rushing touchdowns.

- This is the third ranked opponent Stony Brook has faced this season after matchups with No. 8/9 Rhode Island on Sept. 6 and No. 10/11 Monmouth on Oct. 18.

BOYD EARNS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
- Stony Brook redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Boyd has been named CAA Rookie of the Week, earning his first conference weekly honor and becoming the third Seawolf to receive a CAA weekly award this season.
- Boyd completed 37 of 48 passes for a career-high 380 yards, a personal-best three passing touchdowns, and his first rushing touchdown.
- He opened the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown pass, added a 5-yard rushing score, connected with Freeman for a 65-yard touchdown, and closed the first half with a 25-yard strike to Dez Williams to give Stony Brook a 31–6 halftime lead in the 38–12 win.
- His 380 passing yards are the sixth-most in a single game in program history and the most by a freshman.
- Boyd is now 93-for-143 passing for 881 yards this season with five touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown, and he has yet to throw an interception.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
- Head coach Mark Ferrante reaches his 100th career game this afternoon with a record of 64-35. He has led Villanova to shares of two CAA titles (2021, 2023) and four FCS playoff appearances (2019, 2021, 2023, 2024). Before becoming head coach, he spent nearly three decades on staff from 1987–2016.
- Villanova sits second in the CAA at 7-2 (6-1 CAA). The Wildcats are ranked No. 7 in the AFCA Coaches Poll and No. 10 in the Stats Perform FCS Top-25, the highest among CAA teams.
- Villanova owns the longest active home winning streak in the FCS at 20 games, dating back to 2022.
- The Wildcats' 43 wins over the past five seasons are the most among CAA programs.
- Stony Brook has dropped four straight to Villanova dating back to 2020.

- Left-handed quarterback Pat McQuaide, in his first season after transferring from Nicholls State, has thrown for 1,847 yards on 141-of-229 passing with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has two rushing scores.
- Luke Colella is third in the CAA with 768 receiving yards on 50 catches and has five touchdowns.
- Ja'briel Mace is one of four FCS players with two kickoff-return touchdowns this season and ranks second nationally with a 33.6 return average. He has 1,030 total yards (604 kickoff, 367 rushing, 59 receiving).
- Shane Hartzell leads the defense with a team-high 55 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.
- Five Wildcats defensive backs have recorded interceptions this season (Hawkins, Dawud, Bursey, Tyson, and Williams).
