Baber And Chornomidza Named CAA Swimmer And Diver Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. — After helping lead the Seawolves to a dominant win over Siena this past weekend, sophomore Francesca Baber was named CAA Swimmer of the Week, while sophomore Natalia Chornomidza was named CAA Diver of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Both Baber and Chornomidza are the first Seawolves to earn weekly honors from the conference this season.

Baber achieved four event victories for Stony Brook last Saturday, securing three individual wins in the 200 free (1:53.81), 100 free (52.38), and 500 free (5:11.49). Additionally, she teamed with Alanna DePinto, Avari Wischhof, and Michelle Vu to win the 400 free relay, setting a new pool record with a time of 3:28.37.

Chornomidza was also victorious, winning the 3-meter dive event with a strong score of 285.38. Helping the Seawolves take both diving events and secure a 16-event sweep over the Saints at University Pool.

Baber, Chornomidza, and the Seawolves return to action on December 5-7 when they compete at the 2025 ECAC Championships at the Eisenhower Aquatic Center in East Meadow.
