Swim & Dive Sets Two New Program Records, And Wins Three Events At Day Two Of 2025 ECAC Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Fresh off a stellar performance the day prior, Stony Brook swimming & diving carried its momentum into day two of the 2025 ECAC Championships on Saturday, securing three event wins and setting two new program records as the Seawolves extended their first-place lead heading into the final day of competition.

Just like the day prior, Stony Brook opened the day with a solid round of prelim performances in the morning, with 16 different Seawolves securing spots in the finals later in the night.

Stony Brook continued to put on a show in the finals, recording three event wins as Michelle Vu won the 100-yard butterfly, Francesca Baber won the 200-yard freestyle, and Baber, Avari Wischhof, Alanna DePinto, and Carson Kien won the 800-yard freestyle relay. In addition to the three event wins, two new program records were set during Saturday night's finals, as DePinto broke her own record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.73), and the team of Kunzang Sharchitsang, Pelagia Chazov, Vu, and DePinto set a new program record in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.90).

At the end of two days of competition, the Seawolves lead all teams with 1,233 points.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Vu won the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 56.23.
  • Baber secured a victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.31).
  • Baber, Wischhof, DePinto, and Kien teamed up to win the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:39.97).
  • Sharchitsang, Chazov, Vu, and DePinto finished second in the 200-yard medley relay, breaking a 14-year-old program record in the process with a final time of 1:43.90.
  • Chazov secured a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (57.11).
  • DePinto finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke, breaking her own program record once again with a time of 1:03.73.
  • Elaine Liu took third in the 400-yard IM (4:30.81).
  • Kien finished third in the 200-yard freestyle event (1:53.39).
  • Chazov finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.27).

UP NEXT

Stony Brook now heads into the final day of competition at the 2025 ECAC Championships, as prelims will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by finals at 4:00 p.m.
