Swim & Dive Capture 2025 ECAC Championship, With Baber And Anderson Earning Swimmer And Coach Of The Meet Honors

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Stony Brook Swimming and Diving concluded its weekend triumphantly on Sunday, winning the 2025 ECAC Championship. Francesca Baber was named Swimmer of the Meet, while Head Coach Mark Anderson received the Coach of the Meet award.

Today's win is the Seawolves' first ECAC Championship victory since 2010, as Stony Brook compiled 1,752 points, beating out second place by 181.5 points.

Stony Brook secured the championship with several strong performances in Sunday night's finals session, going on to secure eight top-four finishes, highlighted by a victory in the 1650-yard freestyle by Baber.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Baber picked up her third event win of the weekend, winning the 1650-yard freestyle (17:27.36), as she went on to be named ECAC Swimmer of the Meet.
  • Pelagia Chazov secured second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.87).
  • Carson Kien added a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.58).
  • Baber, Avari Wischhof, Michelle Vu, and Alanna DePinto teamed to take second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:28.13).
  • Meredith Yuhasz finished third in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:37.76).
  • Sara Baxter recorded a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.79).
  • Elaine Liu finished fourth in the 200-breaststroke (2:24.39).
  • Vu swam to a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.70).

"I am so proud of this team for the past three days. The halfway point of our season can be classified as a success, but the job is not done," noted Anderson. "This team has so much to be proud of, and I cannot wait to see how they do at champs in a couple of months."

UP NEXT
Stony Brook will return to the pool in the new year, when it takes on CAA foe Monmouth on January 9 at University Pool. Action is scheduled to begin at noon and will stream live on FloCollege.
