Tennis Upends Towson, Earning Hard-Fought CAA Victory

OCEANSIDE, N.Y.- The Stony Brook tennis team picked up a big conference victory on Saturday night, defeating CAA foe Towson 4-3, earning a hard-fought win over the Tigers. 

A clean sweep of all three sets secured the doubles point for the Seawolves. Lorin Tilipman and Elena Lobo-Corral took set one, while Mia Palladino and Kristi Boro took care of things in the second. Stony Brook secured the sweep in set three with a win from Cornelia Bruu-Syversen and Sara Medved

Three wins in singles play helped Stony Brook clinch the deciding point in its victory, as Mila Charles, Palladino, and Bruu-Syversen all recorded wins.

  • Tilipman/Lobo-Corral (SBU) def. Boshoff/Tambe (TU), 6-3
  • Palladino/Boro (SBU) def. Poutney/Murray (TU), 6-3
  • Bruu-Syversen/Medved (SBU) def. Courtnage/Carper (TU), 6-4

SINGLES RESULTS
  • Tambe (TU) def. Lobo-Corral (SBU), 6-1, 6-4
  • Palladino (SBU) def. Poutney (TU), 6-1, 6-2
  • Bruu-Syversen (SBU) def. Rothfeld (TU), 6-4, 2-6, 6-4
  • Montecchi (TU) def. Boro (SBU), 6-4, 5-7, 6-4
  • Charles (SBU) def. Carper (TU), 6-0, 6-1
  • Suchinsku (TU) def. Medved (SBU), 6-7 (8), 6-1, 6-2

UP NEXT

The Seawolves will return to nonconference play next Saturday for a matchup against NJIT at 1 p.m.
