STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's lacrosse program was once again selected as the preseason favorite in the CAA Preseason Coaches Poll, while junior midfielder Isabella Caporuscio was voted the CAA Preseason Player of the Year.

The three-time defending CAA Champion Seawolves collected the top spot in voting by the league's head coaches. Additionally, four Stony Brook student-athletes were voted Preseason All-CAA: Caporuscio (All-CAA), Allie Masera (All-CAA), Natalia Altebrando (Honorable Mention) and Julia Fusco (Honorable Mention).

Caporuscio enjoyed a breakout 2025 season, emerging as one of the CAA's most dynamic two-way midfielders. Her all-around performance placed her among the league's leaders in multiple categories, earning her unanimous CAA Midfielder of the Year honors, IWLCA All-Region distinction, as well as All-American nods from Nike Lacrosse Media and USA Lacrosse. She also was selected to the USA Lacrosse Division I Preseason All-America Third Team entering 2026.

Masera started all 21 games for the Seawolves in 2025, contributing 31 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers and two assists. She posted a career-high four ground balls against Villanova and recorded her first collegiate assists late in the season, including one in the CAA Championship game.

A key figure between the pipes, Altebrando appeared in 18 games with 17 starts in 2025, racking up a team-high 113 saves while posting a CAA-low 8.16 goals-against average and a .465 save percentage. She turned in a season-high 12 saves in the CAA Semifinal win, anchoring the Seawolves' defensive efforts that carried them to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Fusco played in all 21 games for Stony Brook in 2025 as a freshman, tallying 12 goals and 8 assists (20 points), while showing efficiency with a .600 shot percentage and .850 shots-on-goal percentage. She also contributed defensively with caused turnovers and draw controls as a versatile midfield presence.
