RICHMOND, Va. - Following Stony Brook's victory over Towson on Saturday afternoon, redshirt freshman Khalid Bueno and redshirt junior DaMario Crawford have been named CAA Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week as announced by the conference Monday morning.

Bueno earns his second weekly award of the season after being named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on Sept. 28. Crawford earns his first weekly honor of the season.

Bueno recorded eight tackles, 3.0 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and three quarterback hurries in Stony Brook's 31-24 victory at Towson. It marked his second straight game with three sacks and his fourth game with multiple sacks this season. His 4.5 tackles for loss were a career high. Bueno leads the FCS with 10.5 sacks and 16.0 tackles for loss this season.

Crawford averaged 55.0 yards on two kickoff returns, including a 90-yard touchdown that proved to be the difference in Stony Brook's 31-24 win at Towson. With the Seawolves leading by just three points in the third quarter, Crawford delivered Stony Brook's first kickoff return for a touchdown since October 2025. He ranks third in the FCS with a 36.3-yard kickoff return average.

The Stony Brook football team returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 17, when it hosts UAlbany at LaValle Stadium for the 28th edition of the Golden Apple Game. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. as the Seawolves look to win their third straight game against the Great Danes, which would mark the first three-game winning streak for either team in the rivalry.
