WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Tewaaraton Foundation announced Stony Brook's Isabella Caporuscio as a 2026 women's nominee for the Tewaaraton Award.

Selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List during the preseason, Caporuscio officially becomes the 11th Seawolf to be named a nominee for the prestigious award. Each of the 11 nominees have come under head coach Joe Spallina.

Caporuscio, one of the top midfielders in the entire country, has amassed 57 points on 44 goals and 13 assists through Stony Brook's 15 contests this season. An all-around player, Caporuscio ranks inside the top-50 nationally in goals, points, caused turnovers and ground balls. Earlier this season she was named to the Nike Lacrosse Midseason Media All-American Second Team. During the preseason, Caporuscio checked in at No. 24 on Inside Lacrosse's Top 50 Players list. She also earned Preseason All-American nods from Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine.

About The Tewaaraton Foundation

The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Founded at the University Club of Washington, D.C., the award was first presented in 2001 with permission from the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders. "Tewaaraton" is the Mohawk word for lacrosse, and The Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse's Native American Heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity of the selection process and advances the mission of the Foundation. Each year, The Tewaaraton Foundation presents two scholarships to students from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy – the Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca, and Tuscarora Nations.
