RICHMOND, Va. – The Seawolves picked up a pair of preseason honors on Wednesday as
Quinn Anderson was named to the Preseason All-CAA Team for the first time in her career, while
Ella Sanders earned an honorable mention. CAA head coaches also ranked the Seawolves sixth overall in the conference ahead of the 2026 season.
Anderson appeared in every match and played all but one set in 2025. She would end the season ranked ninth in the CAA in kills with a career-high 298 (2.89 K/S). 18 times she finished with double-digit kills, reaching 20 for the first time in her career vs. William & Mary (Oct. 3). Anderson also contributed 82 digs and 42 blocks on defense.
As for Sanders, the 2025 All-CAA Second Team selection also played in 27 matches last year and finished the season with the seventh most kills in the CAA at 332 (3.07 K/S). She would record 10+ kills 20 times, including a career-high 18 against Kent State (Sept. 6) and Charleston (Sept. 20). On defense, Sanders added 45 blocks and 224 digs, topping 20 digs three times. She also had seven double-doubles, headlined by a 17-kill, 26-dig performance against Lafayette (Sept. 13).
Stony Brook as a team earned 55 votes in the coaches poll, sitting between Campbell (65) and Northeastern (46). Last year, the Seawolves went 12-15 with a 7-9 record in CAA play. They went on to qualify for the CAA tournament for the fourth consecutive season since joining the conference, upsetting Towson on their home court in the quarterfinals before falling in five sets to Campbell in the semifinals.
The Seawolves begin their 2026 season on the road later this month as they head down to Orlando, Florida for the Black and Gold Classic, hosted by UCF. Stony Brook opens the tournament with two matches on Friday, August 28 against Robert Morris and NC State, before ending the week on Saturday against the hosts.
