Volleyball Sweeps Delaware in Non-Conference Finale

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Stony Brook ended its non-conference schedule with one last win on Saturday the Seawolves made it back-to-back sweeps with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-18) win over former CAA foe Delaware.

Ella Sanders was again Stony Brook's top player as she led the team with 15 kills and 12 digs. Quinn Anderson was also in double figures with 12 kills, while Damisi Osibodu totaled seven blocks to pace the defense.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Seawolves overcame an initial 7-3 deficit to eventually go up 15-13 at the first media timeout. Sanders led the way early with four kills and a block, kicking off a 5-0 run that extended the lead to 18-13. Sanders would add another three kills to help bring it to set point, allowing Ayanna Pierre Louis to send one straight up the middle to take the set.

SET 2 | Rayanne Wheat got things started in the second with back-to-back service aces. After the Blue Hens briefly came back and took a 9-7 lead, the Seawolves responded with a 10-0 run featuring four aces from Carey-Jean Block to make it 17-9. Stony Brook would later end the set on a 5-0 run capped off by a pair of kills from Anderson.

SET 3 | Anderson continued her hot streak into the third, quickly racking up three kills and a block to make it 5-5. After Delaware retook the lead, the Seawolves came right back with a 10-3 run to go up 15-10 at the half. The lead would only grow from there as Anderson picked up two more kills and Osibodu two more blocks to make it 21-13. Sanders would go on to finish things off with her 15th kill of the match.
