Box Score

Los Angeles, CA - It's official. Shery Jordan has arrived. The freshman from Stone Mountain, GA scored 32 points, leading Stony Brook (2-1) to a 73-58 victory over UC-Riverside (2-3) in the consolation game of the LMU Thanksgiving Classic Saturday. Jordan also had seven assists, seven rebounds, four blocks and a pair of steals as the Seawolves secured third place.

The game was nip-and-tuck throughout the first half and remained that way until 8:55 remained in the second half. The Seawolves used a 12-4 run over a 2:43 span to take a 59-47 advantage. Two fast break buckets and four free throws highlighted the run. Stony Brook built the lead to as many as 15 and kept the lead to at least nine points the rest of the way.

The Seawolves hit 58% of their field goals in the second half (14-of-24), a complete turnaround from the 35% shooting (11-of-31) in the first 20 minutes. Kelli Cofield collected 11 rebounds in the first half and Tamika Cox's baseline jumper as time expired gave Stony Brook a 28-24 advantage at the break. That was the largest lead of the first half as the game was tied four different times and featured 14 different lead changes.

Maggie Triggs' jumper opened the scoring in the second half as the Seawolves never trailed in the second. Jessica Burch's free throw gave the Seawovles a seven-point advantage with 14:03 remaining and it looked as though the Seawolves would cruise. However, an 8-1 Highlander run ensued as Starr Knight collected four points inside. Jordan's two three-pointers and four straight points from Kelli Cofield built the advantage to 51-43 with 8:16 left.

Jordan scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds in the opening game and will represent the Seawolves on the All-Tournament team. Cofield recorded 10 points and 14 rebounds in the game.

The Seawolves come home for a three-game homestand beginning Wednesday night against Army at 7:00.
