Seawolves Look To Run Home Win Streak To 11

LAST TIME OUT Freshman Sherry Jordan scored 31 points to lead Stony Brook to a 82-73 victory over the Cornell Big Red Monday night. It was the first road win of the year for the Seawolves. A basket by freshman Lauren Kilduff tied the score at 56-56 for Cornell with 9:21 remaining in regulation, but the Seawolves responded with a 13-3 run to take a commanding advantage. A three-pointer by Jordan and consecutive lay-ups by Jill George helped break any momentum the Big Red had gained in its rally. George ended the game with 15 points for Stony Brook while junior Kelli Cofield had a team high nine rebounds.

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT Maine comes into tonight's game with a 4-9 mark and is winless on the road at 0-6. The Black Bears have lost their last three games. Freshman forward Heather Ernest leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 11.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, respectively. As a team, the Black Bears shoot 73% from the free throw line

THE SERIES Stony Brook and Maine have never met.

ROBERTS BATTLES FORMER TEAM Tonight's game has some extra special meaning for head coach Trish Roberts, who will battle her former team for the first time. Roberts was the Black Bear's coach from 1987-91, posting an 82-32 record during her four years there. She won two conference championships and made an appearance in the NIT Tournament in 1990.

HOME STREAK ON THE LINE The Seawolves come into tonight's game having won its last 10 games inside the USB Sports Complex dating back to last season. Seven of those wins have come this season. Their last home loss came January 20 of last season as the Seawolves fell to Cornell, 65-51.

JORDAN 15TH IN SCORING Stony Brook Seawolves freshman forward Sherry Jordan is ranked 15th in the nation in Division I scoring in the January 10 release of the NCAA stats. Jordan is averaging 20.9 points per game during the team's first 15 games. She is second to Houston's Chandi Jones in the category. Jones has averaged 21.4 points per outing in 14 games. Jordan has eclipsed the 30-point mark twice this season - scoring 32 against UC-Riverside and most recently, 31 at Cornell on Monday night. She has scored in double digits in all 15 games this season and is the team's leading rebounder and scorer.

230 IN THE RPI Stony Brook moved up 32 spots with its last two wins over Lehigh and Cornell. Stony Brook moved from 262 to 230 in the latest RPI poll.

AGAINST THE AMERICA EAST The Seawolves have not played a game against an America East team during its two seasons at the Division I level.

ROAD STREAK ENDS Stony Brook buried the skeletons that haunted it on the road Monday night at Cornell. The Seawolves Shot over 50% from the field, scored 82 points and had just 11 turnovers - tying the school record for the second straight game.

BURCH STIRRING THE DRINK Sophomore point guard Jessica Burch has recently relished in her roll as the team's point guard. She had eight assists, five steals and seven points against Cornell Monday - committing just three turnovers. Against Lehigh last week, she had five assists, five steals and four rebounds with just two turnovers. Burch played 38 minutes in each game.

PACK SEEKS REVENGE AGAINST DARTMOUTH Stony Brook returns to the Sports Complex Wednesday night when it hosts Dartmouth at 7:00 p.m. The Big Green defeated the Seawolves, 85-66, last season.
