Columbia (4-3) hit .419 against a pourous Seawolves (6-8) defense and cruised to a 30-22, 30-21, 30-23 win Friday night at the Central Connecticut Tournament. It marked the second time this season the Seawolves have been shutout.
The Lions evened the all-time series at 2-2 by hitting .438 in game's one and two and .390 in game three. All told, the Lions committed just 14 errors in 105 attempts, collecting 58 kills. Stony Brook's defense managed just three block assists in the loss.
Valerie Maloy had 12 kills for the Seawolves, but hit just .179 - part of a .133 team hitting performance. Rachel Goldsmith had seven digs in the loss.
Stony Brook takes on Rider at 11:00 a.m. Saturday and Central Connecticut at 3:00 p.m.
