Seawolves Split With Boston University

The Stony Brook men's and women's swimming and diving teams scored a split with the University of Boston Saturday afternoon in University Pool. The men (4-1) were victorious by a score of 126-115 and the women (1-4) fell to the Terriers, 164-77.

The men took first place in eight-out-of-eleven events on the afternoon. The Seawolves clinched second place in the remaining three. The team of Nathan French, Ryan Krompinger, Matt Hanson and James Payne started the day with a first place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:36.20). Hanson would go on the take first place in the 200 IM (2:00.12) and the 200 fly with a blistering time of 1:54.63. Nathan French claimed the top spot in the 1000 free (10:09.68) and the 200 back (1:58.27), followed by Kyle Thornton's first place finish (1:48.24) in the 200 free. James Payne got into the individual action with two first place finishes, posting a 22.14 in the 50 free and a 48.50 the 100 free.

The women had yet another strong performance from Kim Harris. Harris took first place in the 200 back (2:19.70) and second place in the 200 IM (2:16.05). Harris teamed with Jessica Claud, Michelle Miller and Starlyn Rupinski to take second (4:05.83) in the 400 medley relay. Claud nabbed a first place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:29.85. Miller also scored second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:14.75. The Seawolves would also has a second place finisher in Erin Byrnes on the one meter dive with a score of 237.15.

The Seawolves are scheduled to swim again Tuesday as they take on Iona and St. Francis in dual meet action. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
