Final Stats

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) - Patrick Harvey scored a game-high 15 points, and Brady Merchant added 14 to lead Harvard past Stony Brook 56-45 Saturday.

Sam Winter had 10 points for the Crimson (2-1), who led 28-19 at halftime.

Mike Konopka's 13 points made him the only double-figure scorer for the Seawolves (1-2). His three-point play with 6:30 remaining gave Stony Brook its first lead of the game at 42-41, capping a 22-9 run.

Harvard responded with back-to-back baskets by Sam Winter and Brian Cusworth to retake the lead, a lead it would not surrender for the rest of the game. HU outscored Stony Brook 11-4 over the final five minutes of the game.

The Seawolves were undone by poor shooting all afternoon long, connecting on only 32.7 percent from the floor and hitting only nine of 16 free throws.

Stony Brook is back in action on Monday afternoon when it host Rhode Island College at 4:30 p.m.
