Stony Brook, N.Y. -
The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team had five players earn America East all-conference recognition, the America East announced Tuesday. Senior attackman Kevin Pall (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun HS), senior midfielder Denis Scannell (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur HS) and junior defender Eric Hatkewitz (Shirley, N.Y./Longwood HS) earned all-conference first-team honors while freshman defender Kyle Pearl (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside HS) was named to the second team and freshman attackman Steve Conlon (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen HS) joined Pearl on the all-rookie squad.
Pall finished fourth in the conference in scoring with 43 goals and two assists for 45 points. He led Stony Brook in scoring and has 11 multiple-goal games to his credit this season. Scannell has enjoyed his best season in a Seawolf uniform with 17 goals and eight assists and ranks in the top 10 in the nation in face-offs and ground balls per game. Hatkewitz has been a force on defense for Stony Brook all season long, scooping up 66 ground balls to go along with his four goals and two assists.
Pearl, a freshman defenseman out of Oceanside HS, turned in a terrific inaugural season with the Seawolves. The rookie recorded 45 ground balls and also got in on the offensive act with four goals and five assists - the most ever by a defenseman in the program's Division I history.
Conlon, who lost out on rookie of the year honors to goalie Kevin Rae of Albany, totaled 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points which ranked second on the team. His 37 points is the most scored by any freshman in the program's 19-year history. Conlon earned America East Rookie of the Week honors three times this season.
Stony Brook (8-6) will face Hartford on the road in the first round of the America East playoffs that begin on May 1. Face-off is 7:00 p.m.
