Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Senior attackman Kevin Pall garnered USILA honorable mention All-America honors on Monday.
With the recognition, Pall becomes the first Stony Brook player to be honored by STX/USILA. This season, Pall led the Seawolves to their first America East title and first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament with a team-leading 49 goals and 51 points. He posted 12 multiple-goal games, including a five-goal outburst against No. 14 Navy in March and scored the game-winning goal in overtime against Hartford in the conference semi-finals.
Pall wrapped up his Stony Brook career by rewriting the record book. In March, he became only the second player in school history to score 100 or more career goals and later went on to become the school's all-time leading goal scorer. He finished with 132 career tallies and finished fourth on the all-time scoring list with 143 points.
In February, Pall earned preseason honorable mention All-America honors by Face-Off Magazine and was tabbed America East Player of the Week on March 25. At season's end, he was named first-team all-conference and later was named to the America East all-tournament team.
Pall was one of only three players to earn recognition from teams that did not finish ranked in the Top 20. Attackman Tim Pearson of Army and defenseman Kevin Smithies of Bucknell were the other two.
Stony Brook (10-7) fell to Cornell in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The 2002 season marked Stony Brook's first double-digit win season since 1990 when the then Patriots won 12 games.
