Tricia Floyd was named assistant women's basketball coach at Stony Brook University, as head coach Trish Roberts announced.
Floyd joins the Seawolves' staff after serving as the assistant women's basketball coach at Southern Illinois University for the past two seasons. Last year, Floyd served as the recruiting coordinator, and was responsible for scouting, film exchange, team travel and summer workouts for the past two years.
Before her time at SIU, Floyd spent five seasons at Odessa Junior College in Texas. Floyd joined the Odessa staff as an assistant coach and instructor of Physical and Health Education for three years before she was promoted to head coach in 1999. In 2000, she earned conference coach of the year honors after leading her team to a 20-12 record and an appearance at regionals for the first time in seven years. During her two-year tenure, Floyd coached two all-region picks, seven all-conference selections and five distinguished Academic All-Americans. She also implemented a reading program for elementary students in the local community.
Floyd had stints at North Park College in Chicago as the head women's basketball coach and assistant softball coach during the 1995-96 season and as the assistant women's basketball coach and assistant softball coach at Manchester College in Indiana from 1993-95.
A native of Vinton, Iowa, Floyd earned her bachelor of science degree in education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1993. She went on to earn her master's degree in administration from Ball State in 1995.
