Volleyball Sweeps Hartford 3-0

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Tesha Harry and Rachel Goldsmith tallied 10 kills apiece to lead the Stony Brook women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Hartford in America East action on Tuesday night. The Seawolves won for the 13th time in their last 16 outings by the scores of 30-25, 30-19 and 30-12. The win improves SBU to 14-11 overall, 5-3 in conference play while Hartford dipped to 8-16, 0-8.

With the opening game tied at 10, Stony Brook reeled off eight straight points behind the serve of Julie Zub and the play at the net of Maria Samilo. Samilo notched five kills and three blocks in game one as SBU held off a late Hawks rally to win 30-25.

Harry helped the Seawolves take control in game two, notching six of her 10 kills in the game while posting a .714 hitting percentage, to power SBU to a 30-19 win.

Goldsmith's serve set the tone in game three as she got the Seawolves off to a 5-0 lead and the home team never looked back in a 30-12 match-clinching victory.

Zub finished with a match-high 38 assists while Sarah Bauer chipped in with five kills and Danielle MacKnight added six. Rookie Holly Voda came off the bench to register three kills.

Stony Brook is back in action on Friday night when it takes on New Hampshire. Match time is 7 p.m.
