Stony Brook, N.Y. - Sophomore Sarah Bauer sparked the Stony Brook women's volleyball team to a thrilling 3-1 victory by the scores of 21-30, 30-26, 30-14 and 31-29 over first place New Hampshire Friday night at the Indoor Sports Complex. Stony Brook won for the 14th time in its last 17 outings to improve to 15-11 overall, 6-3 in conference action while UNH dropped to 16-11, 7-2.

Stony Brook fell behind early as UNH's Alyson Coler set the tone in game 1, notching six of her match-high 21 kills as the Wildcats took the first game, 30-21.

SBU bounced back in game 2 as it surged to an early 11-7 lead before UNH closed the gap late in the contest. With the Seawolves clinging to a 28-26 lead, successive kills by Maria Samilo and Julie Zub sealed the win for the hosts.

It was all Seawolves in game 3 as they roared out to a 14-5 lead and never looked back in a convincing 30-14 win. Bauer was the difference, collecting six kills and hitting .857 to help put Stony Brook ahead 2-1.

Game 4 began much like game three ended as Stony Brook jumped out to a 16-8 advantage. UNH did not go away, chipping away at the Seawolves' advantage before taking its first lead of the game at 25-24 on an attack error by Danielle MacKnight. After SBU knotted the game at 25, a kill by Coler and three consecutive attack errors by the Seawolves put UNH up 29-25.

Bauer took center stage again, putting the ball down to make the score 29-26 to set up a thrilling comeback as she then served five straight Stony Brook points. Two attack errors by UNH and a kill by Rachel Goldsmith evened the score at 29 and forced a Wildcats timeout. SBU jumped ahead 30-29 on an attack error by Coler and then earned the win when Goldsmith notched her 15th kill of the night.

Entering tonight's action, Stony Brook had lost six consecutive matches to the Wildcats.

Bauer finished with a career-high 15 kills and six digs. Zub charted 54 assists and Tesha Harry was outstanding at the net with 11 kills and eight blocks.
