Stony Brook women's basketball will welcome four new student-athletes to the team in the fall of 2004, as head coach Trish Roberts announced on Thursday. Cheri Davis, Dana Ferraro, Kerry O'Loughlin and Morgan Patrick have all signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period to join the Seawolves next season.
"We are very excited about our incoming recruiting class," said Roberts. "Cheri, Dana, Kerry and Morgan each bring a wealth of talent and versatility to our program."
Cheri Davis, a 5-9 guard/forward from Islip Terrace, N.Y., is a two-time All-Suffolk County and all-league selection at East Islip High School. In her junior season, Davis averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds per game, leading her team to the playoff finals. A three-time scholar athlete, Davis was named team MVP last season and was a member of the Empire State team last summer. She also plays AAU basketball for the Long Island Renegades, leading the team to a No. 18 ranking in the country a year ago.
Dana Ferraro, a 6-2 forward from Middlesex, N.J., is a three-year letterwinner at Middlesex High School, leading her team in scoring the past two seasons and in rebounding for the last three. A two-time team captain and MVP, Ferraro was a first team all-division and preseason all-junior team selection as a junior. A three-sport athlete, Ferraro was a first team all-division pick in soccer and a first team all-county, all-area and all-state selection in softball.
Kerry O'Loughlin, 5-11 guard/forward from Stow, Mass., is a four-year varsity starter at Nashoba Regional High School. As a sophomore, she posted 17.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per outing while shooting 56 percent from the field. A three-time Mid Wach B League All-Star, O'Loughlin is also a two-time Worcester Telegram Division I and Metro West Daily News first team All-Star. Named team captain last season, O'Loughlin has racked up 905 career points and owns school records for most career points and most points in a single season.
Morgan Patrick, a 6-3 center from Burlinton Township, N.J., is a three-year letterwinner at Burlington Township High School. In her junior campaign, she averaged 10 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks per game, earning second team All-South Jersey and team MVP honors. Through her junior season, she has posted career-highs of 19 points and 19 rebounds.
