Jordan, Ingram Receive All-Conference Honors

Hartford, Conn. - Junior forward Sherry Jordan was named to the All-America East First Team while redshirt freshman Danyelle Ingram received All-Rookie accolades at the America East Conference Tournament banquet on Wednesday evening.

Jordan, who was also named first-team as a sophomore in 2001-02, leads the Seawolves in both scoring and rebounding with averages of 15.4 points and 9.6 rebounds. She has done even better in conference competition, with 15.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Those totals rank Jordan first in the league in rebounding and fifth in scoring. Jordan has also made her mark on the defensive end, leading the conference in steals (2.87 per game) and collecting a seventh-best 0.93 blocks per game. Since joining the team on Dec. 28, she has been the Seawolves' leading scorer 11 times and leading rebounder 14 times. Jordanalso went down in Stony Brook women's basketball history this season by becoming the 11th player to score 1,000 career points. She currently ranks seventh all-time with 1,269.

After missing last season with a shoulder injury, Ingram has become a key player for the Seawolves this year, playing in all 27 games with 22 starts. She is the Seawolves' second-leading scorer with 9.9 points per game and also averages a team-high 2.74 assists per game. Her 10.8 points per game against America East competition is 11th-highest in the league. Ingram received Rookie of the Week honors after the final week of regular season play.

Also named to the All-Conference First Team were K,atie Terhune (Boston University), Heather Ernest (University of Maine), Maren Matthias (University of New Hampshire) and Morgan Hall (University of Vermont). Ernes received Player of the Year honors, while Katie Meinhardt of Boston University was named Rookie of the Year. Kim Corbitt of Maine was named Defensive Player of the Year. Coach of the Year recognition went to Maine head coach Sharon Versyp.

The Seawolves (9-18, 7-9 America East), seeded fifth in this week's America East Tournament, take on fourth-seeded New Hampshire in quarterfinal action on Thursday, March 13, at the Chase Family Arena on the campus of the University of Hartford. Tipoff is 8:30 p.m.
