Final Stats

The Stony Brook women's lacrosse team (3-4) fell in overtime to the Manhattan Jaspers (2-4) Saturday afternoon in LaValle Stadium by a score of 13-12. Nora Jacquette provided Manhattan with some late-game heroics as she sunk two overtime goals, including the game winner with just 1:08 left. Joanna Katz, Marrisa Trachtenberg and Danielle Werner each tallied four goals in the loss.

The excitement began at the outset as the Jaspers' Mary Dudek scored the first of five goals on the day just 26 seconds into the game, but the first half belonged to the Seawolves' Trachtenberg and Werner. The two would combine for all five of Stony Brook's first-half goals, with three coming from the stick of Trachtenberg and two by way of Werner. The two helped propel the Seawolves to a 5-4 advantage at the half, but the lead was short lived as Anne Staut tied the game at five with her goal at the 27:55 mark.

The second half brought another impressive performance from the Seawolves as Katz caught fire and helped push Stony Brook to an 11-10 lead with her three second-half goals. Her goal at the 4:10 mark gave the Seawolves an 11-9 advantage, but that was quickly erased as Mary Dudek scored two goals in the waning minutes to send the game into overtime. Katz would add one more in the extra period, but the Seawolves were eventually done in by Jacquette's two goals in overtime.

Goalie Gina DeNezzo finished with 11 saves on the day for The Brook and Manhattan's Israpon Pananon totaled 14.

The Seawolves are back in action Friday as they host Albany in their America East debut. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start.
