Today's Matchup
The Seawolves (2-14, 1-6) once again aim to snap their six-game losing streak when they travel to take on Maine (12-5, 7-0)this afternoon.

The Black Bears own a slim 3-2 all-time advantage over Stony Brook, with Maine sweeping both games last season.

Scouting the Black Bears
Maine returns five starters and 10 letterwinners from a team that went 25-6 and advanced to the finals of the America East Tournament a year ago.

The Black Bears are led Heather Ernest, who is averaging 16.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Maine has won seven straight and is riding a 23 conference game winning streak.

Last Time Out
Katie Terhune sank a pair of free throws with four seconds remaining in the game to seal BU's 67-66 win over Stony Brook Wednesday night in Boston. Mykeema Ford finished with a game-high 31 points, including a school record seven three pointers for the Seawolves. Ford nailed a school-record seven three-pointers, which tied her for the third best single-game performance in America East history. Her 31 points tied her for the seventh-best single-game outing in Stony Brook history. Sherry Jordan notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Built Ford Tough
Freshman Mykeema Ford had a record-setting performance vs. Boston University last time out. The guard hit 7-of-9 three-pointers, setting a new Stony Brook record while tying for third all-time in the America East for three's in a game. With her career-high 31 points, Ford also tied for the seventh-best single-game performance in school history.

That's the Sherry We Know
Sherry Jordan, who has struggled most of the season, put together a solid all-around game last time out vs. Boston University.

Jordan shot a season-best 63.6 percent (7-11) to finish with 18 points. The senior added a game-high 11 rebounds and three steals, three assists and two blocks. Jordan currently leads the America East in steals (3.58 spg) and is second in rebounding (8.5 rpg).

Breaking the Shooting Slump
In its last outing vs. Boston University, Stony Brook shot a solid 44.7 percent (21-47), marking just the second time in eight games the Seawolves shot over 40 percent in a game.

SB has struggled from the field all season, managing just 38.5 percent (358-930) shooting as a team.

Hard Time at Home
Stony Brook has struggled at home this season, losing all seven outings at the Sports Complex so far.

In those seven losses, the Seawolves are shooting just .348 (145-of-417) from the field and .579 (73-of-126) from the free throw line, while their opponents are shooting .414 (152-of-367) from the floor and .724 (105-of-145) from the charity stripe. Opponents have outscored SB by a 447-381 margin in those games.

The Seawolves seven straight home losses to open the season marks the worst streak in school history. The previous worst start came in 1998-99 and 1995-96 as both teams started 1-4.

Smith, Ford Among America East Freshmen
Jessica Smith and Mykeema for are not only two of SB's top players, but two of the top rookies in the America East so far this season.

Entering today's contest, Smith ranks first among first-year players in rebounding (8.5 rpg), offensive rebounds (3.50 pg) and defensive rebounds (5.00 pg). Ford stands first among rookies in both scoring (12.1 ppg) and second in three point field goals per game (1.62 pg).

Paw Prints
Sherry Jordan scored her 1,400th career point and moved into fourth place all-time at Stony Brook with 723 career boards vs. Binghamton on Jan. 24 . . . Kelly Watson returned to the lineup vs. Albany on Jan. 21 after a four-game absence. The Seawolves had been without the services of the point guard since she left with a knee injury three minutes into the Harvard game back on Jan. 3 . . . Jessica Smith is the only player to start in each of SB's 16 games this season . . . Smith, along with Mykeema Ford, Theresa LoParrino and Inbar Orion, is one of just four players to play in all 16 contests.

Seawolves in The America East
Four Seawolves are among the America East leaders in games played through Jan. 28.

Sherry Jordan ranks first in the conference with 3.58 steals, second with 9.0 rebounds, third with 6.08 defensive rebounds, fourth with 1.00 blocks, fifth with 2.92 offensive rebounds and 14th with 11.6 points, 2.33 assists and a .620 free throw percentage. Jessica Smith ranks first in the league with 3.50 offensive rebounds, fifth with 8.5 rebounds and sixth with 5.00 defensive rebounds. Bojana Bogetic is fifth with 0.92 blocks, 12th with 2.00 offensive rebounds and 20th with 5.0 rebounds. Mykeema Ford is ninth with 1.62 three point field goals and 11th with 12.1 points per outing.

Notable
The Seawolves have been outscored 222-184 in the second half over the course of their current six-game losing streak. During the skid, SB is shooting just .357 (124-347), while its opponents are shooting .440 (140-318) . . . Stony Brook shot a season-best 77.8 percent (14-18) from the free throw line at Albany on Jan. 21. The Seawolves entered the game shooting just 61.5 percent (142-231) from the charity stripe for the season . . . with their loss to New Hampshire on Jan. 10, the Seawolves failed to win consecutive games since defeating UNH and Northeastern last season on Feb. 2 and 5, respectively . . . in SB's outing vs. IPFW Nov. 29, the Seawolves shot over 50 percent for the first time since March 5, 2003 vs. Albany (55.2 percent), which covered a span of five games.

T-Lo Moving Up
Senior Theresa LoParrino continues to move up on Stony Brook's all-time record book in several categories.

The guard stands in sixth place all-time with 242 free throws, 12 away from fifth place (Lisa White, 254). LoParrino also moved into tie for ninth with 164 assists and third with a .768 (242-of-315) free throw percentage.

LoParrino ranks in several other categories, including three point field goals (second, 100) and free throw attempts (eighth, 315).

Oh, Sherry
Senior Sherry Jordan is looking to make her final season at Stony Brook a memorable one.

A two-time all-conference pick and a preseason all-league selection, Jordan has scored in double-figures in 75 of the 87 games she has played in, including 27 games with 20 or more points and four with 30 or more.

Jordan currently has 1,422 career points, good for fourth all-time at Stony Brook. She needs just 106 points to pass Katie Browngardt (1,527 points, 1988-91) on the list for second place all-time. Michele White (1983-87) is the Seawolves' leader with 2,183 career points.

The forward stands fourth all-time at Stony Brook with 236 steals and 521 field goals and sixth with 734 rebounds and 204 assists.

Milestones Approaching
Several Seawolves are approaching milestones during the 2003-04 season.

Against Binghamton on Jan. 24, Sherry Jordan scored her 1,400th point while Danielle DeGiorgio pulled down her 400th rebound and Theresa LoParrino drained her 100th three point field goal.
