Today's Matchup
Stony Brook (0-1) returns to the road to take on Delaware (1-1). The Fightin' Blue Hens picked up a 67-58 win over the Seawolves a year ago in the teams' only other meeting.

Scouting the Fightin' Blue Hens
Delaware returns four starters and nine letterwinners from a team that went 19-10 and advanced to the CAA Semifinals a year ago.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are led by Tiara Malcom, who is averaging 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds.

Last Time Out
Dena Williams hit four consecutive baskets in the first half, keying an 18-0 first half run as Bradley cruised to an 87-60 season-opening victory over Stony Brook.

Williams, who finished with a game-high 21 points, had eight points, four rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal to highlight the Braves 18-0 run in the first half.

Inbar Orion led the Seawolves with 12 points while Jessie Boylan and Mykeema Ford scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Ford added a career-best nine assists in the loss.

Ferraro Solid in Game 1
Freshman Dana Ferraro had a solid debut for the Seawolves vs. Bradley. The forward was outstanding on the boards, pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds, while adding eight points, an assist and a block in her first collegiate outing.

Paw Prints
Mykeema Ford's nine assists vs. Bradley tied her four the fourth-best single-game total in school history... Jessie Boylan set a new caeer-high with 11 points vs. Bradley, marking the first time the junior has scored in double-figures... Stony Brook's 29 turnovers vs. Bradley were the most since they turned the ball over 32 times vs. Richmond on December 29, 2002.

McHugh at the Helm
Stony Brook welcomes new head coach Maura McHugh to the sidelines this season. McHugh joins the Seawolves after spending two seasons as an assistant and three as the head coach of the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA.

McHugh, who has over 24 years of coaching experience at both the college and professional levels, has racked up a 226-154 collegiate record over 13 seasons, including six years at Arizona State and seven at Oklahoma.

Seawolves Selected to Finish Ninth in America East in 2004-05
The Stony Brook women's basketball team was selected to finish ninth in America East in 2004-05, the conference office announced after a vote of the league's 10 head coaches.

Defending conference champion Maine was selected first overall with 72 total votes and five first place votes, followed by Boston University in second (71), Hartford in third (64), Northeastern in fourth (54), Binghamton in fifth (50) and Albany in sixth (47). Rounding out the league's 10 teams were Vermont (seventh, 35), New Hampshire (eighth, 29), Stony Brook (ninth, 18) and UMBC (10th, 10).

Binghamton's Rachel Laws, Boston University's Adrienne Norris, Hartford's Erika Messam, Northeastern's Maralene Zwarich and Albany's Danielle Hutcheson were named to the preseason all-conference team.

Ford, Smith Top Returning Scoring Duo in America East
With a combined 25.0 points per game a year ago, sophomore standouts Mykeema Ford and Jessica Smith make up the top returning scoring duo in America East in 2004-05.

Ford, a 5-8 guard, led the Seawolves and ranked eighth in the league with 13.3 points per game in her freshman campaign.

Smith, a 6-0 forward/center and the 2004 America East Rookie of the Year, ranked second on the team and 12th in the conference with 11.7 points per game a year ago.

Albany's duo of Danielle Hutcheson (12.7 ppg) and Becky Ayres (12.2 ppg) rank second with 24.9 points per game, while Boston University's Becky Bonner (14.1 ppg) and Adrienne Norris (9.8 ppg) and Northeastern's Maralene Zwarich (14.1 ppg) and Francesca Vanin (9.8 ppg) stand tied for third with 23.9 points per outing each.

Several Seawolves are approaching milestones at the start of the 2004-05 season.

Four New Faces
Stony Brook secured another solid recruiting class with the addition of freshmen Cheri Davis, Dana Ferraro, Kerry O'Loughlin and Morgan Patrick. Davis, a 5-7 forward, was an all-state pick and a three-time All-Suffolk County selection out of East Islip High School.

Ferraro, a 6-1 forward, was the Courier News Player of the Year as a senior and finished as Middlesex High School's all-time leading scorer with 1,167 points.

O'Loughlin, a 5-11 guard/forward, was named the 2004 MBCA Central Massachusets Player of the Year after averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 62 percent from the field as a senior.

Patrick, a 6-2 forward/center, was an all-county pick after averaging 12 points, 14 boards and four blocks per game in her senior campaign at Burlington Township High School.

Seawolves Pick Up League Honors
Stony Brook's Jessica Smith was named the 2004 America East Rookie of the Year after a vote of the league's head coaches. Sherry Jordan was named to the all-conference second team and Smith to the third team, while Smith and Mykeema Ford were unanimous selections to the All-Rookie team.

Smith finished the regular season averaging 11.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while shooting .457 (128-for-280) from the field. A three-time rookie of the week, Smith led the team and all rookies in rebounding and was second only to teammate Ford in scoring.

Jordan earns the third America East all-conference accolade of her career after averaging 11.1 points and 8.4 rebounds while leading the league in with 3.13 steals.

Ford, a four-time rookie of the week, led the team and all first-year players while ranking eighth overall in scoring (13.3 ppg) and first among rookies and sixth overall in three-point field goals per game (1.78 per game).

Ford, Smith Keep Hold on Rookie of The Week Honors
Stony Brook freshmen Mykeema Ford and Jessica Smith kept a strong hold on the America East Rookie of the Week award throughout the 2003-04 season.

Ford collected the honor four times, including the final two weeks of the regular season, while Smith was named the league's top newcomer three times.

After missing out through the first six weeks of the season, Smith and Ford combined to win at least a share of the honor in seven of the final 10 weeks of the season, including each of the final six.

Smith, Ford, Watson Among Top America East Freshmen
Jessica Smith, Mykeema Ford and Kelly Watson were not only three of SB's top players, but three of the top rookies in the America East in 2003-04.

Smith finished her rookie campaign ranked first among first-year players in rebounding (9.0 rpg), offensive rebounds (3.75 pg) and defensive rebounds (5.21 pg) and second in scoring (11.7 ppg). Ford finished first among rookies in scoring (13.3 ppg) and three point field goals per game (1.79 pg). Watson ranked first in assists (2.62 apg) and assist/turnover ratio (0.91).

Ford vs. Boston Teams
Mykeema Ford shined in games vs. teams from Boston in 2004. In four contests, the freshman averaged 19.8 points while shooting .480 (24-of-50) from the field, .500 (10-20) from downtown and .750 (21-of-28) from the free throw line. Ford scored in double-figures in each of the contests, including a 31-point performance at BU on Jan. 28.

Jordan Named to All-Met Team
Sherry Jordan was named to the All-Metropolitan Division I Women's Basketball second team by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association. Jordan earned All-Met honors for the third time in her career, as she was a first team pick in 2002 and a second team selection in 2003.

Jordan, a two-time first team America East all-confernece pick, earned second team America East all-conference accolades in 2004 after averaging 11.1 points and 8.4 rebounds while leading the league in steals (3.13 per game). This season, Jordan moved into second place all-time at Stony Brook in scoring, third in rebounding, free throws and steals and fourth in field goals while becoming the first player in school history, male or female, to collect 1,500 points and 800 rebounds in a career.
