The Stony Brook women's basketball team fell to Florida International 78-44 on Tuesday night in the Sun and Fun Classic at Pharmed Arena. With the loss, the Seawolves fell to 1-6 on the season, while the Golden Panthers improved to 9-2.
FIU led 40-24 at the break behind 12 points from Milena Tomova. The Golden Panthers stretched the lead to as much as 36 at several points during the second half, including with 1:56 to play.
The Seawolves struggled shooting all game, finishing with a 28.6 (18-for-63) percentage for the contest, including just 22.2 (8-for-36) percent shooting in the second half.
Mykeema Ford led SB with 16 points, 14 of those coming in the first half. Inbar Orion and Jessica Smith added 10 points a piece.
LaQuetta Ferguson led all scorers with 18 points, while Eva Makela and Tomova added 12 points each.
The Seawolves are back in action in the third place game when they take on Brown at 5:00 p.m.
