Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Stony Brook freshman Jessica Smith was named the Wilson Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 22, as the America East announced on Monday afternoon.
Smith averaged 15.5 ppg and 12.5 rpg while shooting 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the field in Stony Brook's two games last week. The 6-0 freshman tallied two double-doubles on the week, upping her season total to seven.
In an overtime loss to Albany, Smith posted team-highs of 14 points and 11 boards before notching 17 points and a game-high 14 rebounds while shooting a career-best 87.5 percent from the floor at Binghamton.
Smith has now won the last three rookie of the week awards, while Stony Brook has captured all four in the month of February as Mykeema Ford took home the accolades back on February 2.
Senior Heather Ernest of Maine and junior Danielle Hutcheson of Albany share this week's Wilson Player of the Week honor.
